Reply with quote | #1 | Sorry if this has been previously covered (seems to me this would be an obvious question) but I haven't been able to find anything on this. What I am trying to do is this: I have a turbine assembly that I need to show in rotation. This assembly is a group, but is part of a larger group that I need to also show rotating about a different axis. I can animate either of the groups without problem, but it seems not both at once. Is this possible, and if so, why is the subgroup animation seem to disable, if I animate the higher lever group?
Any assistance is of course hugely appreciated. I have a client waiting on an animation of an already approved model... |

Reply with quote | #2 | Without looking at the model, I can't be completely sure if what you are trying to do is possible. You can animate multiple groups at once, so it might be a matter of exploding the assembly in sketchup so you have two separate groups.
However, something like the tires of a car rotating while moving along a path, or a gear spinning while moving up, are not possible.

Reply with quote | #3 | Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do. Animate a group, then attach that group into another group, and animate them both together while the first group is still in motion. What a fantastically huge encumbrance. Had I known this, I never would have purchased this software. |
