Reply with quote | #1 | Hi I have installed the evaluation version of animate. When creating a path and viewing it, the sceen transition is very fast, and settigt the sceen number high dosn't slow down the preview. When exporting things look fine, but i loose the ability to evaluate during priview. How do i make it run in normal speed? Also the path maker and ofset dosn't seem to work. Changing ofset between different values dosn't change the path - why is that? Thank

Reply with quote | #2 | The preview option was included to offer users a quick way to make sure the animation has no problems before scenes are created. You can change the scene transitions in the animation options window in sketchup. You will probably want to set these back to 0 when exporting though. Exporting the animation has different settings. When exporting there is an options button in the lower right where you can choose frame rate. If you choose 30 frames per second and your animation has 30 scenes, your animation will be 1 second long.
The path offset changes the radius of curve generated between two straight line segments.

Reply with quote | #3 | Hi Thanks for the reply. I have already set the sketchup options according to animates tutorial, but it still runs fast. Viewing normal generated sceens in sketchup runs normal, but the ones generated with animate runs fast?
The ofset path dosn't generate a curve between line all segments. It generates them sometime, but not always, and it dosn't seem to follow a commen rule?
Thanks |

Reply with quote | #4 | If the adjoining line segment is too short to accommodate the curve, a curve will not be generated. Each line segment must be at least double the offset length for the cure to be created. so if you have a 1' offset, line segments must be at least 2' long. A 5' foot offset requires line segments of at least 10'. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Thanks for the good description. One last thing just to clarify. Is it correct that the scenes created in animate can only be viewed in fast preview, unless it is exported and the movie is viewed? - or is there some settings i have missed? Regards |

Reply with quote | #6 | Once scenes are created, they can be viewed in SketchUp via the menu at the top View>Animation>Play. As I mentioned before when exporting, you can change the frame rate and therefore the overall speed of the final animation as well as aspect ratio and codec for quality. |

Regarding Preview, one thing you can do is increase the number of frames (scenes) from the Animate Path window temporarily. So you might have 100 scenes but triple it to 300 to slow the preview down. Then when you are ready to Make Scenes, decrease the frames to 100. __________________ David Wayne |
