I was able to get several boxes to pack into a larger box using Path animation. (YEAH!!)
Box 1, Box 2 and Box 3 fit into Box 4.

I then created Flaps on box 4 and wanted to simulate it opening, Box 1,2,3 being packed and then closing so I used key frame animation (figured it would be the best method).  I then played it (key frame only had the lid opening just to test) and it packed the box (minor timing issues).  So I reset it and fixed some timing issues then reran it.  Only this time when I stopped it, it left Box 1,2,3 packed inside of box 4 (the ending scenario)  now it thinks that Box 1,2,3 are starting there.  My path lines have not changed only the targets starting locations has.  Did I reset the key frame animation wrong (I reset the key frame after the simulation stopped running)?

Make sure that the path directions are correct.  Check to see which way the arrows are facing.
Did you want to attach the .skp model here so we can look at it?

My paths are correct, I initially got the paths to work and pack into the box.  It was after I created the Key Frame animation.  I tried to use Ctrl Z in sketchup to go back but it wouldn't, so I thought deleting the Key Frame animation and purging and refreshing would fix it but it didn't.  So the file I attached doesn't have it in it, but you can see that the boxes are at the ending locations.

I also have issues with refreshing and different boxes taking on other attributes even though I changed there name to be different and didn't select them.  The names also sometimes change randomly on me.
My goal is that I have one component that I can change it's visual look (it's going to be something other then a box but for right now a box is easier to manipulate and understand) so that it is a piece of equipment.  I thought as long as you change the name it should keep them separate?  Or do I have to have them be all separate components/groups?

Thanks

I don't think combining keyframes and multiple paths will work.  There are some simple things that will work when combining keyframes and paths.  But you have several paths.  I would just stick with one of the other.  I think for object animation like this, it should all be paths.

Make sure you close the SU Animate Player which will return everything to the beginning.  We should make it so that the Player closes automatically.

I did close out the player, is there a hidden background process that needs closing?
